The Gadsden Athletic Center is being developed as a nearly 29-acre indoor and outdoor sports and recreation destination along West Meighan Boulevard, designed to serve both regional sports tourism and daily programming. With courts, aquatics, fitness, family entertainment, and outdoor fields all in one campus, the facility is positioned to become a year-round hub for play, training, and gathering in Gadsden.

29 acres of amenities designed to attract tournaments, serve residents, and keep energy high year-round:
  • 161,000 square feet of indoor athletics
  • Eight hardwood basketball courts with overlays for 16 volleyball and pickleball
  • 1 hour from Birmingham. 1.5 hours from Chattanooga, TN. 2 hours from Atlanta, GA
  • Family Entertainment Center: arcade, duckpin bowling, and sports simulators
  • Fitness Center: cardio equipment, weights, group exercise space, and locker rooms
  • Aquatics Center: six-lane, 25-yard competition pool and a zero-entry leisure pool
  • Flex rooms: meetings, conferences, classrooms, and party spaces
  • Four natural grass 300-foot baseball/softball diamonds
  • Twelve outdoor pickleball courts
  • Pavilions, a playground, trails, green space, and ample parking

The facility program is designed for high-volume tournament play and will host more than 100 events annually across numerous sports, including basketball, volleyball, aquatics, baseball/softball, pickleball, and non-sport meetings and events. Just as importantly, the complex is planned to support daily community use with space for camps, clinics, recreational leagues, fitness, aquatics, and youth programming for Gadsden residents.

This complex is being developed to expand year-round recreation opportunities for residents while creating a premier hub for sports tourism in the market. Visitor spending is projected to generate more than $12 million in total economic impact in year one, growing to nearly $20 million annually by year five, making the venue a meaningful investment in both community life and long-term growth.
